Meet Nikki ’26
I Found My Purpose:
I was able to find my purpose through the collective support from Mid-Pacific’s great faculty. Every year, I made stronger and stronger relationships with my teachers, counselors and school wide faculty. I also found my purpose through the IB program and the wonderful teachers who challenged me to strive for excellence. Through the IB diploma program I surprised myself by completing tasks I once thought I could never achieve; building the confidence for academic success.
I Found My Passion:
Mid-Pacific helped me find my passion through the numerous opportunities in academics and extracurriculars. As a freshman, I saw how many clubs, sports, and different types of arts Mid-Pacific offered, and joined as many as I could so I could figure out what I enjoyed doing. I knew Mid-Pacific had a fantastic theatre program so I took acting classes, musical ensemble and auditioned for plays from my first year here. I also felt supported by Mid-Pacific's liberal arts education, being able to fit in visual arts classes like ceramics in my sophomore year and IB visual arts in my junior and senior year. The faculty and programs also allowed me to dive into interests I had no prior experience with such as tennis. The openness of the programs allowed me to learn about a sport I actually really enjoy and plan on continuing through college and beyond.
I Found My Path:
After joining Mid-Pacific, I started to feel confident in my abilities in school because of the resources and help from teachers. In the 10th grade, I realized I wanted more challenges in my academic schedule and took the initiative to become a full IB diploma student. I pushed myself to always try my best and learned how to manage my time, skills that will definitely help me in college. Regardless of how hard IB was at times, I saw tremendous growth in all of the subjects I took and feel immensely prepared for college. I feel ready and confident for my life after high school.
I will be attending the University of Michigan and will be majoring in Biology, Health and Society. My time in the IB program helped me discover my love and interest for biology. My teachers, Mr. Davis and Mrs. Drazen always made learning in class super interesting and engaging. Their efforts to push their students and the rigor in their IB biology classes has inspired me to continue pursuing biology in college.
