Track & Field Grand Opening

Track & Field Grand Opening
Mid-Pacific Communications Staff

Honolulu, Hawai‘i — On Saturday, Mid-Pacific celebrated an exciting new chapter with the grand opening of its new track and field facility and the revitalization of Wailele Spring. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and other members of the Mid-Pacific community came together to mark the milestone and celebrate a space that will serve generations of Owls to come.

The new athletic facility features a six-lane track, a natural grass infield and dedicated areas for field events, creating an all-inclusive hub for student-athletes to train and compete while also giving Mid-Pacific the ability to host track and field meets on campus.

The project also included the revitalization of Wailele Spring, a culturally significant freshwater spring located between Wood Hall and the track and field. Its restoration and beautification further enhance this meaningful area of campus and create a stronger connection between the natural landscape and the new facility.

The project was made possible through the generosity and commitment of Mid-Pacific supporters, led by a $1.5 million gift from the late Mike Wood, a former University of California, Berkeley track athlete, local businessperson and Mid-Pacific grandparent, and his wife, Joanne.

Mahalo to everyone who helped bring this vision to life. We look forward to the many memories, milestones and moments that will take place here for years to come.
