Return to Campus After the Storm

Honolulu, Hawai‘i — We hope everyone is safe and doing well after this weekend’s severe weather from Tropical Storm Lala. Thank you for your understanding as we had to close campus today to clean up from the storm. A big mahalo goes out to all of the faculty and staff who volunteered to help clean up our campus to prepare for our students’ return to school. All classes and on-campus activities will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18 as regularly scheduled.

Drop-off, Pick-up, and Parking Changes:
The parking lot (between Scudder Dining Hall and the outdoor basketball courts) sustained severe damage that will take a few weeks to repair. Until the repairs are complete, there will be changes to the drop-off and pick-up traffic flow and no parking will be allowed in this area. 

Drop-off and Pick-up Traffic Flow:
Traffic on the Lower Campus will temporarily operate as one-way traffic in a counterclockwise direction. One-way traffic signs will be posted to direct vehicles toward Athletics, up the fire lane, through the Gym Parking Lot, and out through the normal exit toward Maile Gate.

Parking:

• No parking (in red) will be permitted near the outdoor basketball courts.
• No parking (in red) will be permitted in the stalls behind Scudder Hall.
• Students who are assigned to the Student Lot will have temporary parking assignments in the Osaka Parking Lot.

Middle and High School Schedule:

• Tuesday will be a D Day for middle and high school students as scheduled. In general, we skip letter days that occur on days when we have emergency campus closures.   

• Any assignments that were due on Monday will now be due either on Tuesday or on Wednesday. New deadlines will be decided by individual teachers and will be clearly communicated to students.

• Tuesday, August 18, is now the final day for updates to students’ class schedules. Please reach out to your grade-level dean if you have any questions. 

• At this time, student picture taking is still scheduled for this week. Picture taking sessions that were planned for Monday will be rescheduled.
