Mid-Pacific School of the Arts Award Winning Film Program

Honolulu, Hawai‘i — Congratulations to our film students for winning the “Best High School Expert Film” award for the fourth year in a row at the ‘Ōlelo Youth Xchange Spotlight Awards! The winning film, On my Honour, was directed by Kailey Holbrook ‘25 (USC Film School) and Cameryn Koike ‘25 (LMU Film School), starring ‘Eleu Lukey ‘25 (Northwestern University), Eva Rogers ‘25 (NYU Tisch School of the Arts), Hailey J. ‘26, Matthew B. ‘26, Reef M. ‘28, and Pono W. ‘27. A special congratulations to Jana Park, Film teacher, who is the recipient of the ‘Ōlelo Jack Bates Media Teacher Award—a well-deserved recognition for her impact and dedication to the MPSA Film Program.

Four films created by MPSA students have been officially selected for the 3rd Annual Hawai‘i International Film Festival ‘Ōpio Fest, taking place April 17 – 19, 2026 at Kahala Consolidated Theatres.

This year’s selections bring Mid-Pacific’s total to 13 films accepted into ‘Ōpio Fest since the festival’s launch, the most of any school represented at the annual youth film festival.

The selected Mid-Pacific films include:

• Ke Kino Lua – Written & Directed by Eve D. ’26
• War Boy (Trailer) – Created by Kasen I. ’27
• The Whimsical Tale of Wes and Frank – Created by Pono W. ’27 & Kasen I. ’27
• Oppa – Written & Directed by Emma L. ’28

The four films will screen as part of the High School Showcase on April 18, alongside student films from across Hawai‘i.
