“Defend the Nest” Engineering Week Challenge

“Defend the Nest” Engineering Week Challenge
Leif Tabernero

Honolulu, Hawai‘i — Last week, our middle school held their 7th Annual Engineering Week Challenge! For this year’s challenge, groups of students from across grade levels put their STEM skills to the test to defend Pēpē the Pueo’s nest.

Throughout the week, students designed and built catapult-like devices engineered to launch balls at targets positioned three, four, and five meters away from Pēpē’s nest. The project combined principles of physics, engineering design, teamwork, and problem solving.

Congratulations to Danny L. ’30, Dominic M. ’31, and Avery N. ’32 for winning this year’s Engineering Week Challenge!
