We’re so thankful to senior Spencer A. for an amazing heroic rescue. A couple of weeks ago, two boaters encountered trouble when their vessel was swamped by a wave and sank. Spencer was on his jet ski nearby and jumped into action when he heard bystanders calling for help. Watch the Hawaii News Now interview as Spencer recounts this incredible life-saving story.

Spencer, an accomplished waterman and aspiring Olympian, helped lead Mid-Pacific’s Boys Varsity Kayaking team to ILH Championships two years in a row and his club paddling team to first place in this year’s Moloka‘i Hoe. Spencer learned how to conduct jet ski rescues from his father, a City & County rescue officer who instructs jet ski operators for the City, Navy Seals, NOAA, and the Coastguard. Spencer’s mom Kelly, an alumna from the Class of 1988, shared, “I am so proud that my husband has taught my sons well and that it made a difference to someone's life.” Spencer’s brothers are also alumni - Seth ’21 and Evan ’23.
