Pueo Memories Oral History Project

Posted on June 28, 2022 by Heidi Bow

The Project
Every Mid-Pacific alum has a unique story, whether sentimental, funny, poignant, relatable, inspiring, or simply your own. We want to hear yours! You may have noticed through numerous postcards and emails that we have launched a new two-fold project. Through the Mid-Pacific Pueo Memories Oral History Project we are collecting stories from our alumni that will be preserved in a keepsake volume (print and digital). This special Pueo Memories book celebrates the impact our alma mater has had on our lives and in shaping us into who we are today. We want to preserve these memories and share our legacy with current and future Owls! The second part of this project is to update our internal alumni directory by asking you to update your information which we last did over ten years ago.

Have You Moved?
The second part of this project is to update our internal alumni diretory. We are taking this opportunity to help make it easier for you to stay connected to Mid-Pacific. Dallas, Texas-based Publishing Concepts (PCI) will help us collect updated contact information from those of you who may have moved and inadvertently lost touch with your alma mater.

Your Story
So what Pueo Memory will you tell?

  • Did a special faculty or staff member have a profound impact on your life?
  • Did you find your sweetheart at Mid-Pacific?
  • Can you trace your career path back to a defining moment at our alma mater?
  • Have connections you made on campus turned into lifelong friendships?
  • Were you on campus during a historical moment?
  • Are you a Mid-Pacific legacy family?

PCI Partnership
With our limited resources, we'd never be able to tackle a project like this. By partnering with PCI, we're able to access their trained staff of real, live human beings who are excited to listen to what you have to share. PCI will also help collect and assemble the stories into the Pueo Memories book that we can share with all Mid-Pacific alumni. Please note, PCI will use your confidential contact information in conjunction with this project and nothing more. We have NOT sold your contact information, or will ever use it for outside marketing purposes.

Do I Have to Buy Something?
No. This project is at NO COST to Mid-Pacific and completely funded by alumni who choose to purchase the Pueo Memories book that will be produced at the end of the project in the summer of 2023. Click here to see a sample of what the oral history entries may look like in this book. Various book packages will be offered for sale ranging from $170 to $490, and a small portion of the proceeds from each memory book will go to Mid-Pacific. PCI also offers the option to purchase other Mid-Pacific-branded merchandise ranging from $103 to $160 such as sweatshirt/t-shirt sets or weekender travel bags. You are welcome to purchase these optional items and are under no obligation to do so regardless of your participation in the oral history project or purchase of the Pueo Memories book.

What's Next?
You will be receiving email and postcard communications from the PCI team with instructions on how to participate. We'd like to invite you to share one of your stories with us and take part in this first of its kind project to honor the experiences and voices of our alumni. The PCI team will collect stories until December 30, 2022. After that, they will enter a production phase, compiling the data and designing the publication. We hope to have the book distributed in late summer 2023.

We look forward to hearing from each and every one of you regarding your memories of the school we love so dearly!

"Our school has a rich history of alumni experiences and traditions that are truly one-of-a-kind. This is a great opportunity for us to preserve the special memories of our alumni for future generations, while offering a one-of-a-kind keepsake for alumni. All of our collective alumni memories make up the story of who we are. I hope many alumni participate in this special project."
