Dawson Sloan and Michael Petrides both turned in powerful performances at the State Swimming Championships Feb. 10-11.

In the recently named K. Mark Takai Swimming & Diving Championships, Dawson won the 50-Yard Free and the 100-Yard Free. Michael won the 200-Yard Free and the 500-Yard Free. Coach Kaz Yoshiwara says the two played a major role in the team's success.

"Both set school records," Coach Yoshiwara said. "They were seeded very well but (were) also considered underdogs to highly recruited seniors from other schools. They did a great job of rising to the occasion and swimming their fastest when they needed to. They seemed to gain confidence and momentum off of watching each other swim so well."
