The Next Chapter for the Mid-Pacific Story

Shannon also had the opportunity to meet with Gil Suzawa ’60 in Texas. Gil shared a vivid memory from his first day as a freshman at Mid-Pacific, recalling that he and his classmates each received a copy of The Story of Mid-Pacific by Helen Gay Pratt, first published in 1957.

Much has changed since then, and Gil is now making a generous gift to help fund a second volume of The Story of Mid-Pacific. This new project will document Mid-Pacific’s history from 1956 through the present, weaving together archival research, interviews, and storytelling to create a narrative that is both engaging and historically grounded.

We are incredibly grateful for Gil’s generosity and are excited to embark on this important project. We look forward to sharing more with our Mid-Pacific ʻohana. Stay tuned!
