Aloha at UNLV

Wyatt Hamura ’25, Jerren Lum ’24, and Ethan Yonemura ’24 woke up just in time for lunch on the Sunday after a late night watching the Dodgers win the World Series in extra innings. So great to see these UNLV Owls thriving as “Rebels.” Jerren and Ethan are majoring in Kinesiology and Wyatt in Civil Engineering.

Where else to gather a fun bunch of Mid-Pacific alumni in Vegas than at Zippy’s—the “new” one on S. Eastern Ave! Thank you to Ann (Matsumoto) Aoyagi ’68, Arthur Kam ’60, Jeanette (Miyata) Matsuura ’53 and Yvonne (Otani Giordano) and Robert McCully ’62 for spending time and sharing your memories with us. 

Jeanette’s bright blue nails (honoring both the Dodgers and Blue Jays) and the McCullys’ awesome origin story were truly unforgettable! Glad we caught busy Vegas Ann, just back from a month of travel and time in Japan, and Arthur, often on the road with Las Vegas Cruisin Association, while they were in town. From Hawai‘i Island to Kalihi, Kaneohe, Kauai, Maui, and Waialua, there were many great communities covered and lots to talk about. 

A tip for the next time you dine at Zippy’s: try the Orange Bang, a drink that tastes like a Dreamsicle!
