MPIAA Board of Directors

Jourdan Okada ’98 is a proud MPI alumnus who has been actively involved with the school for many years, and currently has a child in middle school. He enjoys volunteering at the different events and seeing familiar faces and making new friends along the way. He has been an avid supporter of the various alumni and school events throughout the years. It is a great honor to give back to the school that has given so much to his family. Jourdan works as a General Manager for Okada Trucking Co., Ltd. since graduating from UH with a BA in Business Management. He has also been a Realtor-Associate with James Kometani Inc. for the past 23 years. He enjoys spending time with his family, attending their sports activities, swimming at the beach and going hiking.

Wesley Sato ’00 is a legacy MPI graduate. His father is Mendel Sato ’72, grandmother is Yuriko Sato ’44 and his brother is Bryan Sato ’01. Wes is looking to give back to the school that has provided him the ability to become a successful individual and professional in the field of dentistry. Dr. Wes Sato is a member of the Kaimuki Dental Group team, and is also a member of numerous dental study clubs and professional organizations.

Keric Chang ’01 is currently the Controller and Strategic Director at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific. Prior to this role, Keric has worked in various audit and accounting roles including: Managing Director of Corporate Audit, Hawaiian Airlines, Director of SEC Reporting and SOX Compliance, Hawaiian Airlines, and a decade working at Ernst & Young, within the consulting and financial audit sectors. Keric received his master's degree in accounting from the University of Hawai'i and a bachelor's degree from Loyola Marymount University in business administration with a focus in finance and computer information systems. He is also an active board member of several other organizations.

Robynne (Kurihara) Migita ’92 has been working as part of Mid-Pacific’s Reggio-inspired preschool team since August 2012. In August of 2013, she became the Preschool head teacher and works in collaboration with the preschool’s pedagogista, atelierista and team of teachers. In her role as head teacher, Robynne strives to continue sharing Mid-Pacificʻs leadership in progressive education with teachers from across the island and internationally through workshops and conferences that Mid-Pacific participates in. She has two children—a daughter who recently graduated from Mid-Pacific and a son who is a junior. She has been a consistent supporter of alumni and school events throughout the years. Robynne is always ready and willing to help fellow alumni and the Mid-Pacific community as a whole. She is grateful for the educational experiences and background that Mid-Pacific provided her, and hopes to perpetuate the spirit of Mid-Pacificʻs core values- ‘ohana, caring, innovation, creativity, and diversity in her work and life.

Ryan Hobson ’11 is a 2015 graduate of Cornell University and earned a Masters in Civil Engineering from UH Mānoa in 2020. He is a licensed Structural Engineer for KAI Hawaii Inc., Structural and Forensic Engineers. He is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Structural Engineers Association of Hawaii (SEAOH), Co-Chair the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN), and President of the Cornell Club of Hawaii. Every year, Ryan presents the Cornell Scholarship Award to a high school student at Mid-Pacific's annual Honors and Awards Assembly. Ryan has been on the MPIAA Golf Committee since 2020.

Shelby Fujitani ’11 was involved in class office, National Honor Society, Mid Pacific’s Holomua Society, the student ambassador program, peer mediation team, sports, and the Mid-Pacific’s spirit club as a Mid-Pacific Student. Upon graduating from Willamette University In 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Economics, Shelby continued her studies at Pacific University’s College of Optometry program in Forest Grove, Oregon. She currently works as the Resident Optometrist at Eyes Plus, Inc. in Kapolei. Shelby loves to give back to her community, and she is looking forward to building new relationships with students and alumni who share the same sense of pride toward Mid-Pacific.

Tracy Fukuda ’92 is the Business Development Manager at Wilson Okamoto Corporation , an engineering and planning firm in Honolulu. She has been with WOC for 24 years. Tracy received a bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences and a master's degree in Public Health from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Tracy has also been on the planning committees for the annual Pāʻina, the MPIAA Golf Tournament committee, the Care Package planning committee and c/o 1992 reunion events.

Sidney Hamada ’59 served on the Mid-Pacific Board of Counselors from 2002 to 2005, then from 2007 to 2011. He also served on the school's Board of Trustees from 2011 to 2017. Sidney has been consistent with supporting Mid-Pacific and alumni events since the early 1990s and remains active in various planning committees as part of the MPIAA Board of Directors. He has been with FloraDec since 1989, and has been the President/Owner of the company since 1992. Prior to this, he ran the garden/hardware department in GEM. Sidney has chaired events for Coach Riley Wallace, Coach Robert Nash and Coach Eran Ganot to help raise funds for UH Basketball since 1987.

Tyler Isono ’98 has always been a proud alumnus and has played an active role in the Mid-Pacific community. He has been a coach for the MPI golf team for the last 8 years, and his family has always been avid supporters of Mid-Pacific. His daughter is a current student, brother is an alumnus in the class of 2003, and his father Denis Isono, is a longtime supporter of the school and the former Chair for the board of trustees. Tyler and his family have participated in numerous alumni events and reunion activities.

Karen (Kawano) Koles ’63 retired after a 35-year career as an elementary educator in the Hawai‘i public school system. She also recently retired from her second career as the coordinator of MPI Elementary's AfterSchool Childcare Program. Karen is actively involved with the MPIAA and has served on the board for many years in multiple roles. She is the current Class Representative for 1963, and she actively gets her classmates and other alumni involved with all alumni and school-related events.

Jordan Lee ’15 is a 2019 graduate of University of Pennsylvania and works in branding strategy at Sullivan in New York City. He works with companies across financial services, technology, and industrials to help activate their brand, improve customer engagement, and enable their sales teams. A recipient of the 2015 Mary Root Holomua Award, he worked towards improving the quality of school life as a student, and he aspires to continue building upon the Mid-Pacific experience that helped shape his career. Jordan has attended all New York Mid-Pacific alumni gatherings and often visited campus while on O‘ahu. While he participates in board meetings remotely, he consistently upholds his role as an engaged member, dedicating his ideas and time to the association.

Michael Maeda ’79 is a retired elementary school teacher who brings a wealth of experience to the board, with a longstanding board tenure and a strong school connection. His active volunteerism spans event participation, meticulous organization of the Mid-Pacific Archives, and enchanting piano performances at the school’s Baccalaureate ceremony. Michael’s role in the MPIAA Scholarship Committee showcases his commitment to student success, while his consistent presence at school and athletic events underscores his unwavering support for the community.

Bryce Morihara ’98 is a devoted parent to two Mid-Pacific students, holding the position of Senior Vice President at Business Insurance Services, Inc. while actively participating in prominent insurance organizations. He graduated with a Bachelor's in Business Administration and a Finance focus from the University of Hawai‘i. Bryce volunteers his time in his role as a parent, class reunion representative, MPIAA Golf Tournament committee member, and as an assistant coach for the Mid-Pacific Intermediate baseball team, all showcasing his commitment to the Owl community.

Jon Muranaka ’95 is the owner of The Counter Honolulu where he wears most of the hats including overseeing a staff of 30 as well as being involved in all operations including accounting, HR, staffing, inventory, and marketing. His career began in marketing and advertising, and his professional experience and passion for all things food helped lead Jon to his role as a restaurant owner. He has utilized his education and experience to provide services and leadership to causes and campaigns close to his heart. He has been involved with efforts to strengthen his local community by volunteering and partnering with organizations like Child and Family Service, Common Grace, and Helping Hands Hawaii. Jon also recognizes the importance of food and food advocacy and supports organizations like Hawaii Food Bank, Lanakila Meals on Wheels, and the Hawaii Restaurant Association. With his extensive business and marketing background, Jon provides a wealth of knowledge to the MPIAA board.

Marc Nakamoto ’91 graduated from the University of Hawai‘i with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing. He currently works as Regional Vice President at Sodexo. Marc served on the MPIAA Board of Directors from 2014 through 2020 and served as President from 2016 through 2020. He has been the chair and co-chair of the MPIAA Golf Tournament committee for many years and continues to be involved in alumni events, activities and fundraising initiatives. Marc supports Mid-Pacific teachers and students by volunteering as a guest speaker in class, and he is a part of the Class of 1991 reunion planning committee. His father Edwin Nakamoto is Class of 1957 and his daughter Lana is a student at Mid-Pacific, Class of 2025.

Kiana Otsuka ’10 works as a Transportation planner at Oahu Metropolitan Planning Organization. She previously worked as a Research Assistant in London while working on her Master's Degree in Regional & Urban Planning Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Kiana graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Urban Studies, and Environmental Studies at Loyola Marymount University in 2014. Since returning home, she has volunteered at a number of MPIAA events including the MPIAA Scholarship Golf Tournament and Chicken Sale. Kiana is an Alumni Scholarship recipient and she is dedicated to giving back to her alma mater.

Christian Park ’14 hopes to give back to, and stay involved with the community that shaped him into the person he is today while serving on the board. Christian is a Senior Portfolio Advisor & Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch in Honolulu. He works with local families and professionals around the Hawaiian Islands to provide personalized financial & planning guidance.

Wade Ueoka ’93 has made a name for himself as one of Hawai‘i’s top chefs. He was nationally recognized as a Rising Star Chef and has received numerous local culinary awards. In 2013, Wade and his wife Michelle Karr-Ueoka opened MW Restaurant, nominated by the James Beard Foundation in the category of Best New Restaurant in 2014. In 2015, the couple opened Artizen by MW in downtown Honolulu. Their restaurants are now in one place at 888 Kapiolani Boulevard where locals and visitors can enjoy their ono creations. Wade continues to support Mid-Pacific by serving custom meals for Mid-Pacific’s employees, donors and supporters through many of the school’s events, and he has graciously opened his private room for Mid-Pacific events and class reunions.
