JOB SUMMARY
Teach high school Science which may include multiple levels of Biology and Chemistry. The Science faculty is responsible for designing an instructional environment that encourages learning, and motivates students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to establish and continue a firm foundation to perpetuate the learning experience in post-secondary education and/or career opportunities. - Teach competencies and skills with pedagogical practices that align with the mission and vision of the school.
- Prepare curriculum and lesson plans following Next Generation Science Standards and/or standards set by the International Baccalaureate. Incorporate differentiation and varied strategies to meet the needs of a range of learners.
- Collaborate with other members of the department in developing and updating the Science curriculum and assessment practices.

Assistant Preschool Teacher
Position: Assistant Preschool Teacher
Type: Full-time, Regular
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Preschool Teacher works closely with the Head Teacher to support the Reggio-Emilia approach in order to implement developmentally appropriate practice and learning theory. The position includes the daily care of children, documentation of student learning, care of the environment, and collaboration with preschool team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Share in the team responsibility of supervising the children. In the absence of the Head Teacher, take the lead in maintaining a safe environment by managing the children.
- Maintain an emotionally and physically safe learning environment. This applies to the classroom setting, outdoors, and the play structure.
- Work collaboratively with the Pedagogista, Atelierista, and Head Teacher to support the documentation of the learning process in the following ways:
- Collect video, digital stills, audio, and actual student work;
- Contribute to the analysis of documentation;
- Transcribe audio from class discussions. small group interactions, and one-on-one student discussions with a teacher;
- Organize and photocopy student work for documentation purposes;
- Assist in the planning and creation of documentation panels, photo galleries on the school website, and other public displays
- Manage digital equipment used for documentation: camera, video, voice recorder, laptop, desk computer, iPods, etc. so that equipment is ready for daily use. Change batteries as needed, download memory cards, etc.
- Set up the learning space, per the Head Teacher or Pedagogists’ directions, so that the setting is ready prior to the children’s entry into the classroom at the start of the day, including the appropriate sanitation of all play and work materials. Maintain the aesthetic quality of the classroom environment.
- Work collaboratively with the preschool and elementary faculty on the educational program, school initiatives, special events, and ad hoc committees.
- Participate in all professional learning opportunities relevant to the Reggio Approach, inquiry learning, and schoolwide initiatives.
- Perform various school and instructional tasks assigned by the elementary principal.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, with a major in education with a specialization in early learning, child development, special education, Family Resources, or related field; a minimum of three years teaching in an early learning setting; experience working within a collaborative environment. Experience working with young children is highly preferred; experience in a Reggio-inspired program is highly valued.
Must possess and be able to apply his/her knowledge and understanding of progressive education concepts as they relate to preschool and elementary students and incorporate 21st-century skills and concepts into daily interactions with young children. Must understand the developmental phases (physical, cognitive, social, emotional) of young children and have experience communicating with parents to resolve student concerns. Must be computer proficient with various programs (e.g., IOS, Excel, apps). Mid-Pacific has a Mac-driven platform.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret documents such as educational research, reports, and policies. A qualified person will possess the ability to write educational reports, memos, and letters, and communicate effectively when speaking to students and adult audiences, via email and other tech-based forms of communication. Knowledge of and ability to apply conventional English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The preschool/elementary campus consists of multiple buildings that require frequent walking on relatively level ground. The employee on a daily basis is required to walk to classrooms, the play court, baseball field, and other buildings located at the preschool/elementary. Some lifting and carrying of children, teaching materials, chairs, and tables up to 10 pounds; movement throughout the day for instruction and supervision of students; frequent bending; frequent reaching for materials, the phone, etc. Some climbing of stairs (daily); walking up a slight hill (daily). Sitting in a normal seated position in a chair or on the floor for extended periods of time, reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Head Swim Coach
Position: Head Swim Coach
Type: On call
JOB SUMMARY
The Head Coach is responsible for developing competitive swimmers at all levels of the program (middle and high school). Other duties include developing a regular practice schedule, recruiting lower-level head and assistant coaches as needed, overseeing Elementary School swim lessons during the school year, and working with the Athletic Department to develop a competitive program. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience as a positive and motivating head coach and must possess excellent communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
In addition to coaching the Varsity team, the Head Coach will be responsible for overseeing the staff within the program, as well as evaluating, overseeing, and developing Middle and High School participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties assigned by the Athletic Director/Assistant Athletic Director:
Instruction

Develop student-athletes in the sport of Swimming using safe and productive drills, skills, strategies, and instruction in the lesson plans.

Motivate and encourage student-athletes in a positive and appropriate method.

Provide opportunities to student-athletes in the off-season to train and improve performance.
Supervisor Duties

Tracks daily attendance and communicates absences to student-athletes and parents.

Tracks the eligibility of student-athletes according to Mid-Pacific, ILH, and HHSAA guidelines.

Properly takes care of and stores all equipment on a daily basis, and reports any broken or unsafe equipment to the Athletic Director.

Issues and collects team uniforms, parkas, suits, caps, etc.

Monitors academic achievement for athletes to ensure academics are kept in focus.

Orders (with approval) all equipment needed for the season.

Maintains all equipment and oversees repair and/or replacement as needed.

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be an excellent swimmer and be able to perform life-saving techniques. They must also have good communication skills and be able to maintain a safe swimming environment.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience as a positive and motivating head coach and must possess excellent communication skills.
Other Skills
A qualified person will possess the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with the Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Director, the Equipment and Facilities Manager, Pool Manager, the Athletic Office Administrative Assistant, coaching staff, maintenance staff, faculty, student-athletes, parents, and other members of the Mid-Pacific athletic community. In-house Substitute Educator
Position: In-house Substitute Educator
Type: On call
JOB SUMMARY
Provide oversight and basic instruction to students in grades K-12 in an assigned classroom or serve as a classroom assistant under the direction of a teacher or assist with other student supervision as assigned during school day hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide close supervision and maintain a safe, socially distanced environment for adolescents.
- If occurring in a classroom with the teacher is not present:
- Follow substitute plans as left by teacher of record if teacher is fully absent
- If teacher is joining via zoom, ensure that teacher of record is cast on the screen and that all sound/images are working correctly
- Record attendance
- Maintain a safe and productive learning environment
- Ensure that students remain engaged in their classwork
- Assist with distributing or collecting any necessary course materials
- Permit students to go to the bathroom or nurse’s office as needed
- Ensure that all cleaning standards are observed at the beginning and end of the class period
- If occurring in a classroom where the teacher is present:
- Confer with teacher on how to assist during the class period
- Check in with the teacher at appropriate intervals to ensure fulfillment of the requested role
- If outdoors, monitor students with an awareness for physical safety
- If assisting on field trip or inquiry trip, abide by and enforce all field trip policies and procedures for self and students
- If during a lunch period, ensure that lunches are collected, distributed and disposed of in according to Mid-Pacific’s process
