The 11th and 12th grade students of the 2015-2016 Historical Preservation course at Mid-Pacific Institute used a Faro laser scanner to digitally preserve the halau at the Kanewai Lo'i located at the University of Hawaii. The halau was identified by the students in the class as in need of historical preservation because it is a replica of an ancient hale wa'a and it is used to educate people about the Hawaiian culture.
