The 11th and 12th grade students of the 2015-2016 Historical Preservation course at Mid-Pacific Institute used a Faro laser scanner to digitally preserve the Coronation Pavilion at the Iolani Palace. The pavilion, Keli'iponi was identified by the students in the class as in need of historical preservation because it stands on the grounds of the only royal palace in the United States and it was used to crown King Kalakaua.
