The 11th and 12th grade students of the 2015-2016 Historical Preservation course at Mid-Pacific Institute used a Faro laser scanner to digitally preserve a single-log koa canoe for the Hui Nalu Canoe Club. The canoe was identified by the students in the class as in need of historical preservation because outrigger canoes are part of the origin story of the Hawaiian people.
