Message from the PCA President:

It’s been an exciting couple of months for the Parent Community Association (PCA). First you may have noticed that our name changed. We’re no longer called the Parent Teacher Association (PTO); we’re the PCA. This came about with the adoption of our revised by-laws at our September meeting. With this adoption, the Elementary, Middle and High School parents are now united under one organization. A copy of the new by-laws and the past minutes are now posted on Edline. All previous information that was post on this site was moved to Edline.

I would also like to acknowledge all the parents for attending the PCA meeting. We have many new parents wanting and willing to help. Having said this, the following parents have agreed to serve as PCA Board member:

High School Representative:
Janie Bryan

Middle School Representatives:
Cris Ancog – lead
Jeannette Uemura
Wilfred Tochiki
Melissa Mancao-Young

Pre-K / Elementary School Representatives:
Kim Soares
Charles Barclay

Committees:
Information Activities Committee – David / Sonia Franzel
Communication Committee – Janie Bryan / Elsie Kawahara
Parental Support Committee – Stephanie Sato
Student / Teacher Recognition Committee – Dee Dee Tomihama / Stephanie Sato
Fundraising – Gina Overton / Marybeth Fentriss

Upcoming activities or events:
Gift Cards – orders due Nov 13
Speaker – Chris Duque on Tuesday, Nov 20, at 5:30 p.m. in Bakken Hall

A hui hou!

A note to drivers who exit at Maile Way: Please drive less aggressively! Of concern are those drivers who turn left onto University Avenue at the corner of Maile Way. Many drivers rush to make a left turn without yielding to oncoming traffic that actually has the right of way. Please drive with caution and courtesy.

Rules of the Road for MPI Drivers

  1. From within the MPI campus, the Maile Way, Armstrong Street and Parker Place gates are one-way, exit only, unless directed by campus security. Under no circumstances should you enter campus through these gates. Once you leave campus, Armstrong Street and Parker Place are public, two-way roads. Vehicles using the Maile Way exit must turn right and proceed to University Ave.
  2. When driving to and from campus, please remember that you are driving through residential neighborhoods. MPI drivers should be respectful of our Manoa neighbors. Please be as quiet as possible, avoid speeding, do not park illegally and yield right of way when it is appropriate.
