Mid-Pacific is proud to recognize our National Merit Semifinalist and Commended Scholar, James "Brighton" Simmons and Jaren Saiki.

Every year 3.6 million students worldwide take the PSAT. The PSAT identifies students for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Of the 3.6 million test takers, 1.6 million are juniors. The top 1% of test takers were identified as the highest scorers and named Commended Scholars. Jaren Saiki, our Commended Scholar is the son of Dean and Kellie Saiki.

The top .5% of test takers were identified as National Merit Semifinalists. Brighton is the son of Stuart and Karen Simmons. Brighton will move on to the next phase of the process. Approximately 2,500 students will be named as National Merit Finalists which allow for scholarship consideration from over 4,000 universities and corporate sponsors around the country.

Brighton and Jaren are pictured here with High School Principal Tom McManus and Assistant Principal for Academics Christel McGuigan.

Congratulations Brighton and Jaren!
