Robotics Team Honored by City Council

At special ceremony July 12 at Honolulu Hale!

The Honolulu City Council honored Friends of Hawaii Robotics, as well as robotics teams from Kalani High School, Mid-Pacific and Sacred Hearts Academy at a special ceremony July 12 at Honolulu Hale.

Mid-Pacific was represented by team members Tom '20, Esther '20, Hamza '18 and teacher Weyland Bailey. According to Bailey, The Honolulu City Council wanted to honor innovators in STEM education in the state of Hawaii.

Mid-Pacific was honored for:

1. Hosting their first ever VEX IQ Tournament.

2. Earning spots one ES and MS team to VEX IQ World Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

3. Earning spots or one MS and one HS team to the VEX US Open in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

4. Earning spot for one HS team to the FRC World Championships in Houston, Texas.

Congratulations to all three teams that were honored for their efforts and contributions to robotics during the 2016-2017 school year!
