It is a pleasure to announce that Mid-Pacific was selected as an Apple Distinguished School for 2016-2018. This recognition once again honors our exemplary learning environment for innovation, leadership and educational excellence. Mid-Pacific was first recognized as an Apple Distinguished School in 2014.

The Apple Distinguished School designation is reserved for programs that meet criteria for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence, and demonstrate Apple's vision of exemplary learning environments.

According to Apple, the administration and faulty at Mid-Pacific have shown that they demonstrate the Five Best Practices of an Apple Distinguished School: visionary leadership, innovative learning and teaching, ongoing professional learning, compelling evidence of success, and a flexible learning environment.

Apple has engaged with educators for more than 30 years to explore and enhance the experience of teaching and learning. "Our education mission is to provide a learning environment that supports the way students live and how they want to learn," said Emilio Umeoka, vice president, Apple Education. "We applaud programs such as (Mid-Pacific's) that advance this mission, ensuring that all students are prepared for future success in work and life."

The selection of Mid-Pacific Institute as an Apple Distinguished School highlights our success as an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic accomplishment:

• The One-To-One Education Initiative featuring the iPad.
• Integration of 3D scanning into the curriculum.
• Development of many apps to augment classroom projects and athletic events.
• Methods and protocols to evaluate our progress.
