Honolulu Fire Department Mural Painting Exhibition 2016

Students in Daven Hee's Arts Techniques class and the Mid-Pacific Red Cross Club participated in the Honolulu Fire Department mural painting exhibition at the Honolulu Museum of Art's Spalding House on Saturday. More than a dozen schools participated in the event.
Mid-Pacific has proudly participated in this event for the last few years. "I think that the interaction between teachers and students can be greater if we can interact (outside of) the academic setting," Hee says. He notes that this event is also a great way to positively contribute to the community, as well as develop the creativity and collaboration of his students.
"The topic is 'Fire Is Everyone's Fight,' so our design shows everyone around the fire. They unite together to fight the fire," says student Tina.
The murals will be on display in front of HFD fire stations from October 7-31, 2016, to commemorate Fire Prevention Week (FPW). This year's HFD FPW theme, "Fire Is Everyone's Fight," aims to educate people on how to prevent fires, by taking a proactive approach at fire prevention, and becoming involved in keeping your home and community safe, through fire safety practices that everyone can take part in.
