A safety workshop was held for the first time for all international students on August 10th by Martha Fontana-Kwon, Director of Safety and Security at Mid-Pacific Institute. This workshop was designed to bring awareness of personal safety and common threats, especially as a foreign student in Hawaii.
A wide range of topics including scams and fraud, warning and street signs, thefts, and harassment were covered to help international students gain a greater understanding of the different types of dangers they could face. Students were given different scenarios and learned important words to prepare themselves for each situation.
