Cold and flu season has arrived and with it some other viruses like Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease, para influenza virus, mononucleosis as well as RSV. It is imperative that if your child is feeling ill and has any signs of these illnesses such as fever, rash, vomiting and/or diarrhea -- to name a few -- that you keep your child home until they are better. No child should return to school until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever reducing medications. No child should return to school if they still have open Hand Foot and Mouth lesions. To avoid children coming back to school too soon, we may require clearance from their MD if they have been out for 4 or more days. We also ask that you respond promptly when the nurse calls to have your child picked up due to illness. The health of the school community largely depends on the health of your student when they arrive at school. If they come to school sick, the rest of the community is at risk!
