Arcadia Retirement Residence

The Arcadia Retirement Residence was the place to be for 14 middle school students. We spent the morning reading the newspaper to the residents as well as playing “mind exercise” games to sharpen their thinking skills. Lia Kim provided some soothing tunes on the piano while Ryan Yamauchi kept them guessing with his intriguing magic tricks. The highlight of the morning was simply sitting with them and “talking story.” The students were reminded of their grandparents while many of the residents thought of their own grandchildren. Their youthful spirits were much appreciated as they openly and candidly chatted about their families and past experiences and learned more about the people who now call Arcadia home.

Thank you to the 6th-8th graders who made this a special outing and were joined by Mrs. Ikeda, Mrs. Imai, and Mrs. Ka’ai.
