Mid-Pacific's middle school and elementary school participated in another transition activity Monday, Dec. 11. The decorate your Christmas tree event brought together current sixth graders and fifth graders in one of the "sweetest" bonding activities of the school year!

Twenty-seven Mid-Pacific 8th graders were invited to attend the 2006 governor’s inauguration ceremony on Monday, Dec. 4 at the state capitol. It was an incredible opportunity, as our Self & Society classes just completed a unit about the elections and practiced our citizenship skills in Kidsvote on election day.
Highlights of the day included Grayson Smith representing MPI in the media section along with the TV crews. He took some great shots to capture the atmosphere of the ceremony. Tori Hamura waited patiently to give Gov. Lingle a maile lei following the ceremony. The Governor was quite gracious in accepting the lei and posing for a picture.

The MPI sixth grade visited Pearl Harbor on Monday, Dec. 4.
Over the last few years, teacher Lisa Mah has cultivated a close working relationship with the education department at the Arizona Memorial.
This year they invited our sixth grade to attend the 65th Anniversary Symposium at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. MPI was the only school invited to attend, so this was quite an honor. The students listened to Daniel Martinez, the historian/park ranger for the Pearl Harbor Arizona Memorial. The group also listened to a panel discussion of men who were stationed at the Opana radar station in Kahuku. They are the ones who first detected the incoming Japanese planes that were mistaken for the incoming US B-17 planes. After the symposium, the students visited the memorial.
