Dr. Gareth Russell Appointed Assistant Principal

gareth2010.jpgMid-Pacific Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Gareth Russell as the new High School Assistant Principal.

During the search process, the school received more than 60 resumes and interviewed six candidates. Gareth was one of two finalists who participated in a question and answer session with high school department chairs and members of the faculty.

Gareth currently serves as the Honors/Advance Placement/International Baccalaureate Coordinator and is the Science Department Chair. Gareth has been at Mid-Pacific Institute for the past 17 years.

"Gareth has an appreciation for our traditions, has a strong background in curriculum and embraces the Schools of the Future initiative," said President Joe C. Rice. "Please join me in congratulating Dr. Russell on his new appointment."

"I am honored that I was selected to be the High School Assistant Principal," Dr. Russell said. "I believe that MPI is at an exciting threshold as it embraces 21st century learning skills though the schools of the future initiative. With my background in curriculum, my passion for engaged student learning and my total commitment to MPI, I hope to work with faculty to make MPI an even better school."

Dr. Russell earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics from the University of Bath, Bath, Great Britain; his PhD in Solid State Physics from the University of Oxford, Oxford, Great Britain; and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of London, London, Great Britain. He holds Certificates of Completion for workshops for International Baccalaureate Teachers and Coordinators.
