Counting Down!

Good Afternoon Seniors & Parents:

Our last few days of the school year is winding down and we are planning Senior Fun Activities in the next five (5) days of the 4th quarter.

Song practices are continuing this week with the grouping of Koziol - Young meeting on Wednesday, 5/14 at 2:25 - 3:25 in the Hula Studio. Again, attendance is MANDATORY. We had three (3) sessions last week and the Seniors are already sounding absolutely fantastic! Parents...you will be proud and teary-eyed at Commencement when you hear them sing. The class advisors, Mr. Cheng & Ms. Reed, and myself, all had chicken skin listening to them last week!

Beginning tomorrow until next week Tuesday, which is the last day of the 4th quarter, we will have Senior Dress-Up days. They are as follows:

Wed., 5/14: Monochrome Day
Thur., 5/15: College Day (wear your college t-shirt/sweatshirt) Fri., 5/16: Hawaiian Tourist Day Mon., 5/19: Movie Star Day Tues., 5/20: Twin/Triplet Day

The attire should be in good taste and shoes are required----No Slippers!!

The Senior Luau is this week Sunday, 5/18 at 5:00 in Scudder Dining Hall. Students are welcome to bring their yearbooks for signing. This will be our last social event of the school year before Baccalaureate/Commencement, and we hope the Seniors will enjoy their one last time of class bonding :)

The traditional MPI Senior Painting of the sidewalk is scheduled for Monday, 5/19. Seniors will be allowed to paint their names, etc. on the sidewalk between the ceramics room and Atherton Hall during 8th period. NO GRAFFITI will be allowed or other inappropriate messages.

There are eight (8) school days left until Baccalaureate and this is the time that Seniors become a little anxious about completing the school year and the excitement of graduating is very evident. It is so very important that our Seniors maintain good common sense and good judgment in all that they do on campus. This also includes complying with our dress code policies. Please remember that our dress code policies are in effect until the last day of final exams (5/23). Demerits will be issued and the penalty will be assessed to their 4th quarter citizenship grade. Remember that colleges will request a Final Transcript and the citizenship grade will be reported.

In addition, we expect complete compliance of the dress code policy in terms of facial piercing during Baccalaureate and Commencement. Facial Piercing including NOSE STUDS, EYEBROW, LIP PIERCINGS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED DURING BACCALAUREATE & COMMENCEMENT SERVICES. Seniors who are wearing facial piercings on any of the two events will be advised to remove them prior to marching.

ENJOY THE MOMENT, SENIORS. You are so close to reaching your goal.

Sincerely,

Rene S. Ochiai
