Friday, March 2, the Mid-Pacific community set a school record during the annual blood drive. According to the Blood Bank of Hawaii, after an examination of records dating back to 1995, MPI had the highest draw of any other class year.

"Mahalo nui loa to you and all of your students and faculty who are responsible for this new record," Lia Wojtowicz said. "You are making a difference in the lives of Hawaii’s patients and your students are exceptional for giving their time and efforts to help save lives."

"I'm so proud of everyone who gave, and especially proud of the Social
Services Club and Red Cross Club, whose members worked hard at recruiting,
organizing, coordinating and publicizing the event," said Lyn Berry.

We drew 70 pints of blood, and, according to the Blood Bank field representative, Lia Wojtowicz, this is a school record. The last highest amount was in 2004 with 66 pints. Last year we drew 58 pints.

Aaron Knapp, director of donor services for the Blood Bank, said every donation could possibly save three lives, so the students, parents and staff here potentially reached 210 people in Hawaii.
