Standing Apart...

When colleges sift through thousands of admissions applications, what makes one student stand apart from the crowd? Of course, there is a sea of SAT/ACT results and grade point averages; but assuming decent numbers, what really differentiates one student from another?

For many years, colleges and universities have said that they look at the whole student, which means that extracurricular activities such as sports, yearbook, student newspaper, community service and Scouting can swing a college admissions committee in favor of one candidate over another. The final piece of this picture is club participation! Mid-Pacific offers 36 student clubs. The simple act of participating in a club can help the college-bound student stand out. In this photo, the Amnesty Club, the MPI student chapter of Amnesty International, greets students and faculty at the gate to MPI Friday, Oct. 20.
