This week we stepped outside of our classroom to explore Kamanele Park right in front of the school. Recently the class learned that the bird Manu-o-Ku, for which our building was named, was spotted nesting in the park. So off we went to make observations and try to discover the nesting ground. While exploring, students began to discover some clues as to the presence of the bird. They also found some hidden parts of the park and uncovered features that made the place unique. This was all part of our quest to understand what makes a place special. The hope is that we can revisit the park throughout the year and begin to make personal connections to the grounds and understand characteristics of why a place is special.
