For the past few weeks, Mrs. Abe, our Character Education teacher, has been talking about U.N.I.C.E.F. and how they are able to help children around the world. She expressed that there are children who do not go to school because they have to work to help provide for their family, do not have clean water to drink, often go to bed hungry, and have no medicine. The Kinders were quite sad to hear how other children lived. They were excited that they could make a difference and help out. One was doing extra chores around the house to earn money for U.N.I.C.E.F. and the other was the U.N.I.C.E.F. sale. It was interesting listening to the children creating chores to earn money for this cause. Some expressed that they already had to make their bed so maybe they could wash their parents' cars. Others thought that they could help wash the dishes or maybe sweep the floor. These were great ideas!

Thursday was the U.N.I.C.E.F. sale. I was truly amazed at all the different booths the multiage 3/4 grade students created. They knew exactly what would catch the Kinders' eyes (pokemon, yummy snacks, tattoos, treasure in a bottle,

and catapults). It was very difficult for them to decide how to spend their money. I'm glad the children were able to participate. It is always wonderful for the children to figure out ways they can help others. Next week, the children will reflect on the importance of helping others.
