What a wonderful first week back to school! Our Noio 2 classroom has adjusted quite well, making friends and building our community of bright learners. Our routines are becoming familiar, and our 4th graders have risen up to become dependable leaders, helping our 3rd graders feel at home.

If I haven't had the chance to meet you all in person, I know we will very soon! I have been so fortunate to spend this semester teaching in Noio 2 while Mrs. Masa enjoys her time with her daughter, Magnolia. Every day I am inspired by our 3rd and 4th graders; their drive to learn creates such an influential environment in which to teach.

Our two main goals we focused on for our first week were community and organization. We explored and talked as a class about what it mean to be a community.

Several shared that this meant to help one another, while others connected community and communication together. It was decided that a community is successful if we talked to one another, shared how we were feeling, and communicated our ideas and thoughts. It was also the small details they dug into, deciding that our community should be taken care of, both students and our learning tools. So from community came our next big goal: organization. I asked for all students to think about how staying organized can help them succeed in class. We shared past experiences when keeping our notes organized helped us write for Inquiry, and how keeping track of past math assessments helped us prepare for future tests. It is finding ourselves in these healthy habits at the beginning of the school year that makes it such a successful one!

We have all come together in such a quick week! From our morning greetings to one another and interviewing table mates, to decorating our binders and creating our names to be added to the wall. I am so excited to share with all of you our weekly learning as I know our students will too! Our routines will continue to grow, and we will work as a community to stay organized, curious, and creative.

A couple of friendly reminders as we move into our second week of school. Please review the HUGGS (4th grade) and KKIDS (3rd grade) schedule that was sent home on Thursday.

We start our weekly homework soon! All students have a Noio 2 Homework and Reminder sheet. They will be getting into the habit of bringing this home with reminders on what needs to be turned in.

Our classroom parents will be sending an email out shortly with extra reminders and weekly updates. Stay tuned!

We have intake meetings before and after school next week, however, please feel free to come by and say hello!

Mahalo for such a fantastic first week, I am so excited to grow and learn alongside our 3rd and 4th graders!
