Aloha, Noio 2 Parents and Families!
It was such a treat to see you on May Day to watch your child's performance. I know they had worked very hard and were eager to celebrate May Day with you! A very special thanks to all the wonderful moms and aunties who came to help the girls get ready. They all looked so beautiful!
This week my husband, Drew Farwell, joined us to talk about writing as a profession. Drew and I started our own company that began as a blog and has grown over the past three years into a thriving start up business. He has now taken over as I get to pursue my favorite passion...teaching! He shared his favorite writing tips, how to work around frustrations with writing, as well as a few of his favorite poems he has written. The students enjoyed meeting "Mr.F" and all shared a favorite poem of theirs as a part of their final writing reflection.
Can you believe we only have three weeks left of school? We will be focusing on our classroom wetland and inquiry reflection this week. On Tuesday I plan on making a list with the students on extra items to bring from home to help build our wetland, grassland, and ocean scenes. So far they have all been incredibly creative and innovative with the crafts we have in the classroom! A handful of the students have brought in their birds they've been making in Art, and it is all coming together as they add their knowledge and interest in their Inquiry design.
On Tuesday, May 23rd we will be having our Inquiry Open House from 1:30-2:15 for all 3/4 classes, rooms 1-4. Please join us to see all of our classroom wetland designs! A formal invitation as well as link to an online version will be sent out on Tuesday, May 9th.
I hope you are enjoying the long weekend, and I look forward to meeting you more formally during our parent teacher conferences on May 18th and 19th!
