Senator Schatz's High School Internship Program provides a hands-on learning opportunity about the U.S. Senate and encourages students to be advocates in their schools and communities. High school interns work with the office to identify topics of interest in their communities, staff special events, and assist with outreach activities. Applicants must be high school seniors with a GPA of at least 2.5 and have access to email. Interns will be selected based on their involvement in their community, diversity of interests, and life experiences, and demonstrated leadership involvement. Applications are due Sunday, September 10, before 6:00pm HST. For more information and to apply, visit www.schatz.senate.gov/services/internships.

Exploring College Options is a special recruitment program sponsored by the undergraduate admissions offices of five of the country's leading universities: Duke University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Standford University. Representatives from the five universities will conduct brief slide presentations about their institution and answer questions about the sometimes-mystifying world of college admissions. The event will be held on Thursday, September 14, 7:00pm at Hilton Hawaiian Village. To register and for more information, visit www.exploringcollegeoptions.org.
We encourage you to attend the visits. They are an excellent opportunity to learn more about what colleges have to offer. New college visits are added daily. You can find the most updated list of college visits on Naviance (Family Connection) connection.naviance.com/midpac (under "Colleges" tab and click on "view all upcoming college visits"). If you will be missing a class, you must first ask your teacher for permission AND sign up at least two days in advance on Naviance. You will be responsible for any work missed. Please check the Daily Bulletin and Family Connection for updates and new additions. All juniors and seniors are welcome to attend. If you have any questions, please stop by the College Counseling Office.
