It's all in the hands this week. While hands can be a metaphor for production, consider the gestures as evidence of thinking and learning. In the fourth week of summer session, several classes are gearing up for presentations at next week's Thursday assembly, completing products of learning, or refining understanding. In the photo "essay" that follows, observe all the nuances of thinking in the language of hands -- the intentional placement of hands and fingers, palms, pressure, precision, symbolic gesture, playfulness, imagination.
So much more than hands-on learning, yes? The gestures and expressiveness of the hands make visible the thinking we often overlook because we may be too focused on an outcome or product of learning. Look for hands on, minds on the next time youʻre with your child. Youʻll be amazed.
E Kūlia Kākou! Letʻs strive and aspire together!
