Dusting off the beach sand. Re-setting the alarm to an earlier wake up. Itʻs time to get ready for the first day of school, August 14! On Friday we bid aloha and a hui hou to our extended summer camp students who experienced two fun weeks of field trips and activities. The facilities and maintenance crews are prepping classrooms and grounds, and Ms. Kelli has the entire dining room with school supplies neatly organized and ready for delivery to classrooms. The faculty and I begin the school year with our annual retreat on August 7, then we join colleagues and staff for the all-school convocation and in-service on August 8. The rest of that week will, as you can imagine, be absorbed in meetings and classroom preparations.

The Orientation for new K-5 parents and students is August 12, 1:00pm, in the dining room. Please bring your children with you so that they can have their orientation led by a few of our students in the upper elementary.

Preschool Parents, your Open House/Orientation is August 11, 5:00pm, in the dining room. Childcare will provided for your preschooler.

Open House for all Kindergarten Parents is August 17, 5:00pm, which begins in the dining room. Childcare will be available for your kindergartner.

Youʻre reading this blog because you received the first Owl Update of the school year. We created the Owl Update to keep you apprised of up-to-date information to ensure that you and your child are ready for all events and activities. Take note of important school events scheduled over the upcoming weeks.

Did your child receive my welcome letter? The hunt for owls begins! Teachers' letters will be mailed shortly, and if they have any specific requests, they'll let you know.

Iʻll be at the upper autoline every morning beginning at 7:00am on August 14 greeting all the children. Parents, please be patient with morning and afternoon autoline. Expect traffic as everyone adjusts to routines with drop-offs and pick-ups. Security will manage traffic flow as best as they can.

If you have any questions about events, the first week of school, etc., please call our office at 441-3800 or check MyPueo.

E Kūlia Kākou! Letʻs strive and aspire together!

For our children,

Edna L. Hussey, Ed.D.
