Summer program is all about fun, meeting new friends, and learning about things not ordinarily taught during the school year. I was so impressed while visiting the range of sessions offered this year. In addition to our popular bug science, entrepeneurial business class, reading, writing, and math workshops, theater, iMovie production, robotics, art, Mandarin, and sports camp, weʻve added a morning sports class, beginning band, an afternoon performing arts, and science camp. Wish I could be a child again to experience summer learning as our summer program students are doing in our five-week program! Our preschoolers and new kindergartners are also learning about how to work with others, one of the most important school skills necessary for success.
The focus across all sessions in the first week has been about creating a class community. This means learning names, making new friendships, and discussing ways for each classroom community to work together. I encouraged the faculty not only to learn the names of every student in their sessions by the third day, but also to understand the ways in which each student learns. We have a very talented, innovative, energetic, and caring faculty who have been demonstrating their expertise daily. Itʻs been so inspiring to observe the teachers and students in action!
If you are a parent of a child in our summer program, be sure to log into MyPueo with your username and password to read the teachers' blog postings each week Sunday after 6:00pm, beginning today, June 12.
E Kūlia Kākou! Letʻs strive and aspire together!
For our children,
