Thatʻs how quickly the summer sessions flew by over the past five weeks. The second assembly highlighted the amazing learning our students experienced, guided by talented, innovative faculty. Weeks of process learning were followed by exhibitions, performances, or completion of products, e.g., writing a story.
The opening image of todayʻs blog captures the finale of MPSA Jr.'s impressive production, Honk Jr., after five weeks of intensive practice, which included learning vocal, dance, and dramatic skills. Students in Camera! Lights! Action! showed parents their portfolio of video projects to demonstrate their array of technical skills. Students in Lego Robotics wowed us at the assembly with their synchronized "wave" bots.
We saw students' inventions in another class (to name a few: a trash-picker-upper, a ceiling-to-floor room organizer, a contraption for those pesky mosquitoes). Volleyball skills segmented into stances and arm movements. The performance of a hula chant in the first Hawaiian language class offered at the elementary. More Mandarin language students speaking with confidence. Several students learned business basics on their research trips to retail shops, concepts such as a budget, profit, and loss, and the production of goods and services for the purpose of creating revenue for a charitable cause. And, oh, the abundance of creative expression in the artistic work of our children. Truly in the blink of an eye.
Extended Camp begins July 13 through July 24, then an interim period to prep classrooms and faculty meetings. Thank you to our exceptional summer school faculty and staff, parents, and students for a fun summer of learning! There's still time for beach days, shaved ice, and potlucks. Make time with your family for summer fun!
For our children,
