First day of school year 2006-2007! New beginnings for our 3-year olds and for many kindergartners! Welcome to our new community members throughout the school and to returning students. I was tickled by the number of K-5 parents who lingered moments longer while their children seemed happily situated in their respective classrooms. The focus for the first day in all classrooms is building community (making new friends) and learning about classroom / school rules. And what beautiful sunny weather to grace our beginning.
This is the first of a year of communications with you, which we call the “Thursday packet.” Although it’s not Thursday, we wanted you to be familiar with the routine. Check your child’s backpack every Thursday for the packet this week through September 15. After the 15th, all communications will be via the school website at www.midpac.edu. If you do not have access to the Internet, please notify the office at 441-3800, and we will have copies of information ready for you via your child. Your child’s teacher might also include messages in the Thursday packet but will use the website to download any information.
Enclosed is the Parent Intake meeting schedule for August 25. All parents are required to meet with their respective classroom teacher to share information about their child so that the teacher can work effectively with each child. Although this is a meeting for parents only, if you need childcare during the time that you are meeting with the teacher, please call the office for assistance.
See the reminder about school photos, which will be this Friday!
I ask that you please heed directions from campus security, particularly when you enter the campus. Stop when asked. They are directing two traffic lanes, and they need to feel safe about their job.
Finally, the August-September calendar is enclosed. Post the calendars in a spot somewhere in your home as a reminder about school events and upcoming activities.
See you in the morning!
For our children,
Edna L. Hussey
