Welcome, September! And a most hearty welcome to the littlest members of our learning community our preschoolers. All 32 children have been slowly transitioning into a full day of activity, adjusting to a new environment, and warming to their teachers. Its delightful to see them on campus, a dream come true for MPI.
Well, the cot in front of my desk is back in the Health Room! And Im happy to announce that our Health Aide Shirley Young started just this Wednesday. She is a certified nurse assistant and comes with a long list of references and varied experiences in the health care field. Several children have already come to the Health Room for assistance. We are thrilled to finally have a nurse assistant! Margery Jacobson is especially happy to turn over her responsibilities as the nurse for the 9+ than years she has been with us as office manager. Just just so you know all preschool and elementary faculty and staff are trained and certified in CPR and first aid.
The Open House for parents of preschool, kindergarten, and multiage 1-2 children was held last night. Open House for parents of grades 3-5 children is next Thursday, September 8, 6:00 8:00pm. Parents will meet in Wilcox Dining Room for a general meeting and refreshments, then walk to their childs classroom.
Open House is traditionally the most important parent meeting because teachers explain everything you need to know about why youve invested your resources into MPI what your child learns (curriculum), how we teach (instruction), and how we determine the quality and progress of your childs learning (assessment). It is an evening for parents and teachers only so that you can focus on the presentation. Intuition, the company which makes our uniform t-shirts, will also be available if you need to pick up additional shirts.
The first address gets you directly to the preschool/elementary site, and the second address includes middle and high school. Our tech guru Scott Yoshinaga has downloaded great photos of important school events such as the Grand Opening and blessing of the new facilities with the faculty and staff.
IMPORTANT: Entry onto the MPI campus is through Kaala St. at the beginning and end of the school day for everyone.
UH security has informed us that several MPI parents & staff have been entering the MPI campus through Maile Way by paying the $3 fee and dropping off at the Maile exit. We will not be allowed access to the Maile exit if entry continues through the UH Maile gate because of the increased traffic congestion at that gate. So, please enter MPI through Kaala St.
Thanks for your cooperation.
For our children,
