Hanohano O Mānoa

Tuesday, April 21, Kimo Alama Keaulana, composer/choreographer of Hanohano O Mānoa, the hula the sixth graders are learning this semester, visited MPI for a special performance. Keaulana is Rianne Graves' kumu hula. hano2.jpg

"To present this semester's hula, "Hanohano O Mānoa", to the composer himself was an absolute honor, and I was very proud of the kids as Uncle Kimo complimented they way they chanted and executed his choreography," Ms. Graves said. "Dancing at the foot of Ka U`i O Mānoa amongst Wailele Spring, the Akaaka cliffs and Wa`ahila Ridge with the makani (wind) blowing completed the moment perfectly."
